Yoga and Flexibility

When some people think of yoga, they imagine having to stretch like a
gymnast. That makes them worry that they’re too old, unfit, or “tight” to do yoga. The truth is you’re never too old to improve flexibility if done so in a safe and measured way.

A series of yoga poses – asanas – attend to a sense of well being and mobility by regularly and gently lengthening muscle groups. Tina has also been attending regular Feldenkrais classes for several years, and has used this informative experience to extend her understanding of the nervous system and how ‘good’ movement can feel and increase with quiet attention and repetition.

“If you are kind to your body, it will respond in an incredible way.”  Vanda Scaravelli

Based upon Vanda Scaravelli’s focus of ‘awakening’ the spine, this approach to Yoga not only has the potential to improve the range of movement of the joints safely but assists in stabilising as well as lubricating them. This yoga works with the natural principals of gravity , weight, and breath. The outcome is a sense of ease and fluidity throughout the body and the mind.
